June's Super Hero Bunko at Annika's

Medieval Times!

Kids are free at Medieval Times with a paid adult right now, so we decided it was time to take the kids. We didn't tell them where we were going til we got there and they were surprised when they realized I had some of their friends' families join us, too! We were rooting for the Red and Yellow Knight who won a couple rounds, but was eventually stabbed and sliced and was unable to go on! We had a great time cheering and booing and the kids loved it!

The kids having fun at the theater

This summer I have taken the kids to see a few movies. Sometimes, it is just nice to get out of the hot house and be in a nice air conditioned place. Not that I believe going to the movies is cheaper than running the air, though! So far we have seen The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, Kung Fu Panda, The Incredible Hulk, and WALL-E. Michael and I saw Iron Man and I think the kids would really like it, so I will probably take them to that next. And, Hunter can't wait to see Journey to the Center of the Earth so will be seeing that sometime soon, too! Michael and I also saw The Happening, but I will NOT be taking them to that. We liked it, but it is definately not for kids. (Not that I thought it would be.) Unfortunately, that didn't seem to stop the parents from bringing them. I can only imagine the poor nightmares those kids will have.

Here are some pics of the kids playing with the standees.

The Melting Pot

I took Mary to the Melting Pot for her birthday. We stuffed ourselves silly and had the best Yin and Yang drinks!

The Sickness...

All I am going to say is, "They couldn't make it. They got the sickness." : )

Hunter's book: "Time Travel Tree House"

Hunter put a lot of work into his book for
Young Author's Day at school. He is really
proud of it (so am I)! When he gets it back
from the school, we are going to make a copy
for his cousin, Alex.

Here is a teaser!

My 30th Birthday!

Michael had cupcakes (my fave) delivered for me!

Mystery Birthday Weekend Getaway to San Francisco, Napa Valley, and Sonoma County!

So, as much as I would like to deny it, I turned 30! About a month before my birthday, I found a calendar on my car, taunting of the impending day! Over time, I also received some other notes telling me what to pack and when to be ready.
The night before the mystery trip, I came home to find "30" balloons and with them was a blindfold and a note explaining that at a certain time I needed to put it on so Michael could lead me out to the car. When that time came, I blindfolded myself and Michael, not so gently, led me out to the car. (He guided me into the bushes and his truck.) When I got in the front seat, I could feel streamers all around me!
We started on our trek, the two of us, I still blindfolded, when he took my hand (his other hand on the steering wheel) and then I was grabbed from someone else behind me! It turns out our great friends, Briana and Jason, were going with us and Briana was behind all the surprises! Here are some pics from the great trip!

My countdown!

Briana got us into a suite at the Hyatt Regency
of San Francisco! We were on the 17th floor! Michael
was freaking out when Jason was hanging out the window!
Michael hates heights! His palms sweat just thinking of it!

Having a great time! We got a crab roll for an appetizer
and we both got tableside ceasar salads and steak.
He got the filet and I ordered the New York. Then for
dessert we had a wonderful chocolate souffle, a
raspberry souffle, and crepes! (OK...so we shared the
dessert with Bre and Jason!) Dinner cost about half of
the cost of the mortgage for our condo! Not typical for
us, but it was such an awesome experience!
